Kimberly Sanders

First joining our team in October 2007 as a legal administrative assistant, Kim has been with us for over fifteen years. After completing her paralegal designation, Kim was instrumental in the formation of our Business Law administration team, which she now co-leads. While having the highest standards for a job well done, Kim uniquely balances her drive for precision with her ability to patiently mentor and train newer team members, always having time to answer questions.  We’re grateful for Kim’s loyalty and commitment to our firm, and her ongoing insights which help our team function more effectively.

Outside of the office, Kim loves spending time with her family and friends, especially if it involves camping or mountain biking. If she’s not in the great outdoors, Kim is likely at the rink, honing her figure skating skills or volunteering at Valleyview Skating Club events.

Crystal Nadeau

First joining our team in 2004 in our Central Services Department, Crystal shortly after transitioned into our foreclosure department as a Legal Administrative Assistant. More recently, Crystal also applies her legal experience to assist in our conveyancing department. Around our firm, Crystal always strives to develop her knowledge and contribute her experience to help others succeed – she is a great team player, who is highly valued for her unwavering dedication, kindness, and loyalty.

Outside of the office, Crystal spends her time doing anything crafty. Crochet, cross stich, scrapbooking and card making are some favorite pastimes.

Crystal’s favorite quote is “Not all those who wander are lost” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Sherry Sirch

After two decades of Fridays and covering holiday time, Sherry is our key point of contact. Handling the busy volume of all types of traffic with practiced ease, Sherry’s depth of knowledge on office procedures and practices is impressive. Plus, she’s our go-to for anything related to the security systems, and she keeps track of our whole office – if you’re looking for anyone, ask Sherry – she’ll know!

Around our office, Sherry is known as the sunny smile that greets visitors, the air traffic controller for all deliveries and mail, the re-router of all telephone calls, and so much more. A professional, clear communicator, Sherry maintains an ever-positive, flexible attitude – her dedication to doing a great job shines through everything she does.

Outside of the office, Sherry enjoys long walks, hiking and travel vacations with her hubby of 32 years, Steve. If she’s not out exploring, Sherry is probably re-inventing recipes to cater to those with food allergies (like herself), then having friends over to sample her creations. Sherry also likes to make her own hand soap, household cleaners and hand sanitizers – “Why pay for something you can make or fix yourself!?” Sherry says.

Athlete of Influence $1000 Scholarship is now open for 2019-2020!

Our Personal Injury Team is thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual Athlete of Influence Scholarship!

In 2017, our Personal Injury Team created the Athlete of Influence Scholarship to recognize outstanding young people in our Community. The Award highlights those who have shown resilience in the face of adversity and a dedication to healthy living, two traits our Team knows will take young people far. The Team quickly realized it was impossible to select just one winner, so each year, ten finalists are selected.

During the 2019-2020 school year, our Personal Injury Team will select a monthly winner from the scholarship applicants, then highlight their achievements and contributions to their community. Each monthly winner will be featured during the corresponding month on our social media and in Kamloops This Week.* Monthly winners will receive a small gift, and in June 2020, one of the monthly winners will be selected as the recipient of the Athlete of Influence Scholarship ($1000.00).

Kait Methot

Kait Methot - Black & White Headshot

From a non-profit background, Kait joined our team in 2020 and handles all things human resources for our firm. Instrumental in establishing our Mental Health, Equity-Diversity-Inclusion, and Spirit Committees, Kait is known around our office as kind and compassionate with a unique, positive candor – she is all about helping each of us, and our firm, function at our very best.

As proud mom to two young daughters, Kait enjoys spending time with her family, whether it be colouring, riding bikes, or running around the playground with her daughters, singing at gigs with partner, Brendan, or helping her dad at the farmer’s market. If she’s not having family-time, she’s probably re-energizing with coffee or chocolate, or in her favorite place – out for a run.

Casey Neis

Casey Helgason - Black & White Headshot

Always pondering the most complex issues, Casey sincerely enjoys finding ways to improve the quality of other people’s lives. She’s an innate “ideas person” who enjoys hearing different viewpoints to expand and compliment her own. Bringing this comprehensive perspective to her legal practice, Casey strives to draw connections and synthesize the moving parts of law and business for her clients’ benefit.

Focusing her legal practice on local government law, business and real estate transactions, and intellectual property law, Casey believes in listening to understand, rather than listening with the intent to respond — she ensures she appreciates the full breadth of an issue before offering a solution. Whether it be advising local governments on complex matters or helping her clients start or grow their businesses, Casey has her clients’ best interests in mind at all times.

Having grown up in Kamloops, Casey particularly enjoys seeing the community develop and is always looking for ways to grow connections. Away from the office, Casey is an avid gardener, a slowly improving golfer and a fantasy football enthusiast. She believes puns are the highest form of humour, that sampling craft beer is a real hobby, and is always challenging her own value system.

With a litigation practice focused on employment, local government and personal injury law, Kendra excels at distilling complex legal issues to help clients identify options and make fully-informed decisions about next steps. Kendra’s attention to detail, diligent preparation, and steady drive ensure that her clients’ needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Originally from the Yukon, Kendra has real appreciation for the wilderness and for any athletic pursuit. Starting her athletic career with family dog mushing excursions, she went on to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships for orienteering and at the U23 World Championships for cross-country skiing, and has received numerous territorial awards of excellence. When she’s not at the office, you’ll find Kendra biking, running or exploring the great outdoors with her dog, Cirrus.

Robert Smithson

Beginning his legal career as in-house counsel for a major trade union, Robert soon moved to the employer side of the labour fence.  He has also spent time as a human resources/industrial relations executive in private industry (Western Star Trucks), a partner at a large firm, and a sole practitioner. Now exclusively representing employers, Robert’s varied background with workplaces of all shapes and sizes – and his unique perspective gained from in-house work for the Teamsters Union – provides his clients with comprehensive, valuable insights into any workplace challenges.

Robert knows that his clients’ main focus is making a living, and that workplace issues need to be resolved quickly. Always focused on keeping his clients out of litigation, Robert applies pro-active strategies to minimize the disruption and costs of civil claims and administrative complaints, to reduce stress for everyone involved. Robert advises clients in private industry as well as in the municipal, academic, and non-profit environments, both unionized and non-unionized.

Partial to the coast and the Island, Robert imagines living by the seashore again one day but he also loves interior BC hiking, particularly in the Okanagan hills. When he’s not exploring, Robert is a guitar player and a (reluctant) singer – you’ll find him running a classic rock jam session in Kelowna.
